About Me – Abhishek Thomas
This thought to write about myself came when I searched my name on Medium and found... nothing. It made me feel a bit sad, but it also sparked a decision: Why not write my own story?
Hi, I’m Abhishek Thomas Baiby, a 17-year-old student from Chavara Public School, Kerala. Yes, I’m a proud Malayali! And as every Malayali knows, we carry a piece of our place wherever we go. But let’s get back to my story—oh, sorry, my journey.
As a student, one of the most important aspects of life was the report card. However, for me, it was also my biggest fear. I dreaded getting my report card because I would often rank first—but in ascending order of marks. My hardest subject was Hindi, and for reasons I could never quite understand, it felt almost impossible for me to master.
The period from 2018 to 2023 was the most challenging time in my life. I still remember failing my Hindi exam once in 2020, a moment that felt like it could decide my entire future. The fear of being held back in 6th grade weighed heavily on me. Miraculously, just as the next exams approached, the Covid-19 lockdown began, and life took a turn.
Looking back, I strongly believe that not everyone is capable of excelling in everything, and that’s okay. Instead of forcing people to fit a mold, we should focus on teaching them to embrace who they are and help them thrive in what they do best. That realization has shaped my perspective and given me the courage to move forward.
Like many others, I came to Medium to explore opportunities and, honestly, to make money. But times change, rules change, and Medium has adjusted its policies. Will I be paid less now? Yes. But no problem—we Malayalis always find another way.
I’m here to share my thoughts on business, genuine ways to make money, and my ideas. Fun fact: I have business ideas for 365 days of the year! Right now, I’m working on a financial literacy teaching app called Wealthy Wizards. (Will I still be working on it tomorrow? Who knows—life is unpredictable!)
So far, I’ve started 13 businesses. Out of those, 12 failed, and only 1 succeeded. But that’s okay. Failure is just another step toward success. In my short journey, I’ve learned one important thing: making money isn’t the goal. The real goal is to be better than the person you were yesterday.
As you journey through my story, you’ll realize the most important thing in life is to motivate yourself and never underestimate your own skills by comparing them to others. I was often judged and downgraded because of my academic marks, but I learned that my worth isn’t defined by numbers on a report card. Instead, it’s about how I rise, grow, and create my own path.
Remember, your potential is limitless, and your journey is yours to own.
There’s so much more to share—stories, lessons, and ideas—but I’ll save those for later. If you’d like to join me on this journey, hit that follow button. Let’s grow and learn together!
"Stay tuned—this is just the beginning of the Abhishek Thomas story!"
